For free, the Moacyr Alves Shelter in partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the Humanitarian and Development Service (LDS) and the World Health Organization (WHO), will begin, on March 7, 2019, during business hours, the registration of the register for people interested in participating in the selection for the receipt of basic wheelchairs for people who have control of the cervical and trunk.
The registration will take place from 8am to 11am, and from 1pm to 5pm, in the physiotherapy sector, at the headquarters of the Abrigo Moacyr Alves, located at Rua Profª Léa Alencar, 1014, Alvorada I (in front of the Alvorada Maternity).
To make the registration, the person must present copies of RG, CPF, proof of address and SUS card. In addition to the registration, people will undergo an evaluation by a specialist, who will determine the need and the correct size of the chair, according to the face-to-face evaluation of each person, so that it can be made to measure. These health professionals are qualified to do this screening of the patients who will receive the wheelchairs.
O Wheelchair Project is a global initiative developed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and aims to improve the mobility, health, educational, and economic opportunities of people with physical disabilities.
The project's coordination chooses local organizations that are reference points for the distribution of wheelchairs, after due selection of this public. In Manaus, the chosen institution was Abrigo Moacyr Alves, a reference institution in the care of people with disabilities.
