Banda República Popular presents the visual album "Húmus", at Teatro Amazonas, this Tuesday (27/08), at 20h. According to the group, the album brings the union of the distinct realities of Amazonas, bringing together the different perspectives that exist in Manaus. Admission is free and the rating is for 16 years.
The event will feature speeches by the directors of the audiovisual production: director and screenwriter Matheus Mota and director of photography and editor Henrique Saunier Michiles, and also by members of the band: Viktor Judah (drums and vocals) and Sérgio Leônidas (vocals and bass). The band is also formed by Vinítius Salomão (vocals and drums), Igor Lobo (vocals and guitar).
"Húmus visually was conceived as a love letter to the city of Manaus, our popular culture, and to the Amazonians, the indigenous people, the river dwellers, and those who live in the cities," says Matheus Mota, director and screenwriter of the visual album. "We needed to bring all the experimental and conceptual essence of the musical album to various visuals that would integrate perfectly," he concludes.
The photography and editing of the visual album were in charge of Henrique Saunier Michiles, who signs the script along with Matheus Mota, repeating the partnership with the band since the music video Somo2 (2018).

The film "A Selva", which has script and direction of writer Márcio Souza, will be screened at Teatro Amazonas, this Wednesday (28/08), at 8 pm. The event is part of the cultural project "Mostra de Cineastas do Amazonas", the Secretary of Culture of the Amazon (SEC), in order to enhance the artistic and cinematographic production Amazon.
The feature film, released in the 70's, is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by the writer Ferreira de Castro and tells the story of the Portuguese Alberto who, after participating in a revolution in Portugal, flees to Belém do Pará. Handed over by an uncle to the care of a northeastern rubber tapper, Alberto ends up in the "Paraíso" rubber plantation, on the banks of the Madeira River, and comes into contact with the reality of the Amazon.
"The feature film will be shown in its complete version, without the cuts it suffered from censorship during the military dictatorship. The film tells the story of a politically persecuted man who changes his position entirely when he comes into contact with another reality", says Márcio Souza.
Admission is free and the indicative rating is 18.
