Amazonas Band presents international pop hits in a free concert

A Amazonas Band takes the stage at the Installation Theater on Wednesday (11/27), starting at 7pm, with the concert "Pop Music! From Brit Pop to R&B!"which brings together works by icons of international pop music. The event has free admission.

Conducted by Rui Carvalho, the orchestra promises to take the audience on a musical journey, bridging the gap between Brit Pop, a movement based on popular music from the UK in the mid-1990s, and R&B, or Rhythm & Blues, which emerged in the United States, as a genre derived from blues and jazz.

In all, it will be a 60-minute show, with classics by Phil Collins, such as "I Cannot Believe It's True", "Take a Look at Me Now", and "Easy Lover", besides Stevie Wonder, with "Superstition" and "Too High"; Lionel Richie, with "Stuck On You"; Sting, with "Every Breath You Take"; and Elton John, with "Candle In The Wind".

Completing the musical selection, the concert will close in style with a medley of hits from the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson. The multifaceted artist defined the basis of pop as we know it: he brought R&B, Eddie Van Halen's guitars, dance and, mainly, special effects and cinematography.

"The record 'Thriller', released in 1982, is an example of integration between music, video, theater, dance, merchandising, in short, everything that makes up the entertainment industry," says Rui Carvalho.

According to the conductor, the repertoire was specially prepared so that there can be an interaction between the musicians and the audience. "It will be a more relaxed presentation with room for conversations with the audience about the works presented and the work of the musicians," he says.
