Due to the public's success, the Amazonas Band again presents, this Sunday (July 4th), at 7pm, the concert "Memories for the Futurewhich marked the launch of the 10th Amazonas Jazz Festival for more than 700 people at the Amazonas Theaterlast month. The event, which has free admission, is a realization of the State Secretary of Culture (SEC).
"There was an incredible and surprising reception from the population. Just like in the last presentation, we have prepared several surprises for the public", says the orchestra's leader and artistic director of the Amazonas Jazz Festival, maestro Rui Carvalho.
With the proposal of celebrating the return of FAJ to the State's cultural calendar in 2020, the concert makes a retrospective of the event's history and its important artistic legacy, besides projecting a little of what will be seen next year.
The repertoire includes classics from big names in American jazz, such as Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train," Bob Mintzer's "The Happy Song," Daniel Barry's "The Mighty Urubamba," and John Fedchock's "Latin Import. It also includes hits by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, and a tribute to the singer and composer João Gilberto, the father of Bossa Nova, who passed away last month at the age of 88.
In addition to enjoying a night of good music, those who attend the event will be able to get to know what's new at the 10th Amazonas Jazz Festival, which will be held from March 21 to 29 next year, with a diversified program occupying various spaces in the city.
