Two moments of Russian classical music - the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century - will be presented in a concert by the Amazonas PhilharmonicAt 8pm this Thursday (27/6), with free admission at the Teatro Amazonas Amazonas Theater. The repertoire gathers works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) e Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975), conducted by the maestro Otávio Simões. The event has a free rating.
The works chosen were "Francesca da Rimini", symphonic poem (1876) by Tchaikovsky, and "Symphony No. 5 in ré minor" (1937), by Shostakovich. According to conductor Otávio Simões, the two pieces haveçm remarkable characteristics.
"'Francesca' éanother of the symphônical poems based on literature written by Tchaikovsky, who alsoémade 'Romeo and Juliet' and other works by Shakespeare. This work is about a character from the 'Divine Comédia' by the Italian writer and poet Dante Alighieri. In the poem, Francesca is in the second circle of hell, condemned for the sin of luxury and being attacked by strong winds," comments the conductor.
Simões explains that Tchaikovsky tries to translate the mood of the poem in "Francesca da Rimini." "Right at theço beginning, the orchestra imitates somber sounds, as if weére on a walk through the woods of hell. At that time it was imagined that hell was an icy place, so the music follows this reference. Thereás alsoéa very lyrical moment in the moment when Francesca tells her storyória. We need a high-quality orchestra to perform this work," he points out.
The symphonic poem by Tchaikovsky opens the concert and lasts 25 minutes. Next, the Amazonas Filarmarmônica will present the "Symphony 5," a famous work by Shostakovich. Simões points out that the Russian composer lived during the Soviet regime, which had a strong influence on the creator of "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District".
"After ós 'Symphony nº4' and 'Lady Macbeth,' the Sovietétic government was dissatisfied with his works because they were too bold. They wanted something more accessíable. Then, Shostakovich worked, still within his language, to create the Symphony nº 5, which é much more accessibleível, but still very beautiful. Among his 15 symphonies, Symphony 5 is the most famous," says the conductor.
With renowned works in the orchestral repertoire, the Amazonas Filarmarmônica can show the virtuosity of the orchestra and its members, according to Otávio Simões. "They are works of difícil executionção, which also count with solos of wind instruments and percussionão, and require músicians of skill. It is a presentation for music lovers and for those who want to get to know classical works. Everyone is welcome.
