After the premiere in March, with a full house, the show "Ambrozhya and the Phantasm of Artbased on the work of playwright Sérgio Cardoso and staged by the Companhia de Teatro Apareceu a Margaridais in season at the Gebes Medeiros Theaterin the avenue Eduardo Ribeiro, 833, Center, starting this Sunday (05/19). The show will continue until June.
According to Cardoso, "Ambrozhya and the Phantasm of Art" is a tragicomedy and a social and political critique of the time about cultural actions. Written in 1981, the work tells the story of a family that, in 1918, in a city abandoned after a crisis, tries to survive financially by promoting artistic performances.
The plot unfolds after a painting by a Lazonian painter Leone Castomante is sold for 100 thousand pounds at an auction house in London. Learning of this information, the family hosts an event to celebrate 20 years since the unexplained disappearance of the painter, who is the ghost of art hovering over Lazone. "Ambrozhya" appears in Cardoso's collection of texts, "Lazone Women's Urban Theater Book" (2013).
The play of the Company Appeared the Daisy is directed by Douglas Rodrigues, soundtrack Taiara Guedes, costumes by Dione Maciel and an experienced cast of the theater scene Amazon as Michel Guerrero (Ambrozhya), Geraldo Langbeck (Gervásio), Paulo Altallegre (Carlessônio Wolfgang), Thais Vasconcelos (Leona), Luso Neto (Sir. Fergunson), Karol Medeiros (Laura Amphibia) and Israel Castro (Suplício).
The show's season continues on June 2, 9, 16, and 23, with sessions starting at 7pm. The show lasts about 1h15. The rating is 14 years old and tickets can be purchased for R$20 (full price) and R$10 (half price) through the Bilheteria Digital website or at the venue, hours before the scheduled session.
Plot
The story of the play takes place in the house of Ambrozhya Fagundes de Leão, headquarters of the Leone Castomante Literomusical Society, where everyone is broke. The matriarch is upset, for 20 paintings by the artist, who painted macaws, parrots, and little birds, are stored in the basement of her house. The spirit of Leone Castomante hovers quietly over the town, for he is the Phantom of Art. Carlessonio, Ambrozhya's son, discovers the existence of Leone's only descendant, Miss Leona, who lives in Rio de Janeiro.
Immediately, the ambitious family arranges a way to lure her to Lazone by forging the celebrations of the deceased's vintenary and mobilizing the system around the false commemorations of the artist's death. The family sends for the descendant in an attempt to kill her, thus intending to return to the social and political evidence.
Third montage
"Ambrozhya e o Phantasma da Arte" is the third staging of Sérgio Cardoso's dramaturgy by the Companhia Apareceu a Margarida. The first was "Gabriel Drago, o vampiro do Teatro Lazone" (Gabriel Drago, the vampire of the Lazone Theater), in 2001, sponsored by the now extinct Villa-Lobos Foundation.
The second was the success "Mercedita de La Cruz's cursed inheritance", in 2006, which ran for ten years, with an audience estimated in more than 60 thousand spectators and participation in national theater festivals in Acre, Amapá, and Rio de Janeiro. The company celebrates 21 years of uninterrupted stage activity.
