Icon of Amazonian music, the singer Arlindo Junior mixes boi-bumbá and samba in his newest album, "O Boi Dá Samba".in which he revisits successful toadas to the rhythm of samba. The repertoire of the CD will be presented at a release party next Wednesday, June 19th, holiday eve, starting at 9pm, in the heated area of the SESI Worker's Club. At line-up of the release party will also include names like Uendel Pinheiro, Junior Paulain, DJ Layla Abreu e Grupo A Toada.
"O Boi Dá Samba" is Arlindo Júnior's 13th record, and for the artist it means a reunion with the beginning of his career, and his origins in samba, but without losing the essence of the rhythm that consecrated a good part of his career, the toada de boi-bumbá. With a 28-year career, Arlindo started in samba in 1988, when he formed the group "Levanta Poeira", and only later he became known as the "Pop da Selva" when he became the voice of Boi Caprichoso, in 1989, at the Parintins Folkloric Festival.
For the singer, this new work represents an interchange between Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, and Parintins. "When my friend and I, the producer Mano Jorge, and I thought of this album, it was with the intention of divulging the toada in a different way, beyond the North region, through this fusion of rhythms. It is the poetry of the toada plus the rhythm of samba," he declares.
The album is produced by Joel Maklouf, Tilla Jones, from the Amazon, and Orley Dias, Mano Jorge, and Sylvio Neto, from Rio de Janeiro. Several hits from the past are present on the CD, such as "Meu Amor é Caprichoso", "Vermelho", "Pesadelo dos Navegantes", "Gavião Real", "Bicho Homem", "O Amor Está no Ar", and "Ritmo Quente", as well as more recent hits, such as "Perrechés do Brasil", "A Cor do Meu País", and "Amazônia, Nas Cores do Brasil".
The CD also features two re-recordings of samba hits, in the pot-pourri "Conselho / Insensato Destino", and also the unreleased track "O Boi Dá Sambá", which gives the album its title. Among the special participations are the "emperor" David Assayag, the sambistas Neguinho da Beija Flor and Mano Jorge.
On digital platforms such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, and YouTubeMusic, the album "O Boi Dá Samba" has been available since May 24th, as well as the artist's complete discography.
