A State Public Library of Amazonas (Rua Barroso, 57, Centro), will open its doors next weekend with a special program, which includes a guided tour, workshop, film screening, and book and comic book exchange fair. The activities will be free and will take place in the morning.
The SEC's Libraries Director, Sharles Costa, points out that the action is an opportunity to meet a growing public. "We have verified an increase of visitors to the Public Library, curious about its architecture and history. Seeking a closer dialogue with the population and enabling citizens to appropriate this public good, we will open the doors of the space this weekend with a varied program for the whole family," he says.
On Saturday (8/24), those who go there will be able to check out the workshop "Techniques for Photography with Smartphonein which instructor Nilton Leal will teach photography techniques and practical dynamics for taking pictures with a cell phone. Registration will be free and carried out on site. The activity will take place from 9am to 12pm. At the same time, visitors will be able to see the building, its exhibitions, and consult the collection of literature and comic books.
On Sunday (25/8), the program will start at 8am and go on until noon, with the traditional Book and Comic Book Exchange Fairwhich aims to promote the circulation of knowledge, expand the library's collection, and encourage the habit of reading. To participate it is necessary that the material taken must be in good condition. The books and comic books are evaluated upon delivery and exchanged for coupons, which entitle the reader to exchange the book for another book, and the comic book for another comic book or children's literature books. Textbooks, technical and school books will not be accepted.
In parallel, there will be a "Bibliotoura guided tour that allows the public to learn about the history and architecture of one of the most emblematic historical heritage of the Amazon. The Sunday morning program also includes the screening of two movies, with sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 10:35 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
