In celebration of its 52-year career, the group Blue Birds Band performs a free concert this Monday, July 29, from 20h on, at Teatro Amazonas TheaterManaus Center.
With symbolic admission of 1 kg of non-perishable food, the show, which is supported by the Manaus City Hall, brings a tribute to João Gilbertoicon of Bossa Nova. The collection will be destined to two social institutions.
Conceived five years ago, the theme "Always New Bossa" theme highlights the greatest Brazilian musical heritage and had the support of the poet and journalist Simão Pessoa. However, only this year it was possible to follow up on the idea and present it at the theater, as described by the leader of the Blue Birds, guitarist Roberto Gomes, better known as Betão.
The artist leaves a message for the bossa nova-loving public that will check out the show. "The bluebirdetes can expect a special repertoire, and I expect 700 to 800 people, at Teatro Amazonas, to have a different Monday, listening to relaxing, calm, ear-pleasing music", says Roberto.
Blue Birds Band
Roberto Gomes says that the history of the Blue Birds is guided by the professionalism of 152 musicians over more than 50 years. For him, the essence of the band is inserted in the social, cultural, and economic context of Manaus.
The group was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Amazonas in 2018According to the guitarist, despite the difficulties, one of the challenges is precisely to maintain the trajectory and legacy of the band, which has had in its lineup, for example, names like the bassist Adriano Giffoni.
Deeply moved, Roberto describes the opportunity to pay tribute to João Gilberto as unique. Especially at Teatro Amazonas, "the biggest cultural center of the Amazon", according to him.
