Certificate of Cultural Heritage of Brazil will be delivered, in the Bumbódromo, this Friday (28/6), in the opening of the dispute of Garantido and Caprichoso.

The Institute for National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) will deliver in the Bumbódromo, during the opening of the 54th Folkloric Festival of Parintinsat 7pm, the certificate of Cultural Heritage of Brazil. The recognition was made by the Institute in 2018, being an important achievement of the groups, masters, actors who are part of the bois-bumbás of the Middle Amazonas and Parintins.
The Cultural Complex of the Boi Bumbá of the Middle Amazonas and Parintins was inscribed by Iphan in the book of Celebrations, in November 2018.
The certificate will be delivered by the Director of the Department of Intangible Heritage (DPI-Iphan), Hermano Queiroz. The ceremony will be attended by the superintendent of Iphan in the State of Amazonas, Karla Bitar; governor of Amazonas, Wilson Miranda Lima; vice-governor, Carlos Alberto Souza; as well as the state secretary of culture, Marcos Apolo Muniz and the mayor of Parintins, Frank Garcia.
According to the director, this public recognition during the festival is important to further enhance the work of all who build the manifestation. "There is an intense involvement of the community in the preparation of the Boi-Bumbá, which requires a lot of knowledge of popular tradition that, together, result in the Boi Bumbá Cultural Complex of the Middle Amazon and Parintins," explained Hermano Queiroz.
During the researches carried out on the cultural asset, important points are raised for the maintenance of the practice that lacks support and fomentation actions.
The governor of Amazonas, Wilson Lima, emphasizes that the title of Brazilian Cultural Heritage values the Boi Bumbá tradition in the state and raises the importance of the Parintins Folkloric Festival, which is considered one of the greatest folkloric manifestations in Brazil.
"It is a recognition of a cultural tradition, fruit of the creativity of the people of Parintins, which involves artists and performers. For the state government, it is a differential that will boost tourism and bring economic development.
Cultural manifestation
The festivities related to this cultural asset occur in different ways and according to the location where they are held, being practiced at different times of the year, with variations and their own denominations.
In the Middle Amazonas and Parintins the folguedo usually takes place during the June celebrations dedicated to Santo Antônio, São João and São Pedro. There are three main versions: the Boi de Terreiro, the Boi de Rua, and the Boi de Arena. By bringing together influences from various ethnic groups, the game is characterized as a cultural reference.
