This Thursday (04/4), the Casarão de Idéias (Rua Barroso, 279, Centro) begins the celebration of its nine years of activities. An extensive program will be developed for the anniversary festivities. Dance shows, film premieres, and an exclusive performance by the Solimões quartet will liven up the day.
Opening the program, the Corpo de Dança do Amazonas (CDA) presents choreographic excerpts from the show "Quem será que destina? A collective creation of the company's cast, the choreography seeks to approach the public by proposing a reflection on life and art in the form of dance.
The conception of the show was based on the choice of Caetano Veloso's famous song as a soundtrack. The creative work was developed as an unfolding of reflections that emerged from the music, where CDA's members translate the sound and poetry of "Cajuína" into a choreography based on the language of contemporary dance.
Right after that, at 4:30 pm, the "Cine Casarão - The Japanese film "Family Business", directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, will premiere in the theater. The film tells the story of a poor family in Tokyo that teaches their children to steal products from the supermarket - which explains the English title. The drama has even been described as "modern-day Oliver Twist," in reference to Charles Dickens' 19th century novel.
During the evening there will be another edition of the project "Book Donation" projectproject, where Casarão de Idéias makes some of the books that have been donated to the entity available to the community. Right after that, the "Solimões Quartet" will make an exclusive presentation with music by Mozart and Mendelssohn.
The whole program will be free and open to the general public. For some activities, the space's management will make tickets available, to be distributed one hour before the shows.
For João Fernandes, manager of the space, in nine years Casarão de Idéias has much to celebrate. "Casarão de Idéias is a reference of cultural resistance. Today, more than a simple action for the city, we are a necessity", comments Fernandes.
He recalls that every day is a daily struggle to keep it going. "Being with open doors every day has not been easy. We had no idea that we would gain this dimension. Because our role is to position art and to keep all of this working to receive the population, makes us believe and reinforces our thought of change through culture," he concludes.
Extensive program
The month of Casarão de Idéias' anniversary will be full of activities and many new features. In addition to the annual program, such as the launching of editais: Mova-se and Ocupação, the entity will also launch the loyalty card of Cine Casarão. An ongoing incentive program for moviegoers who frequent the movie theater. The benefit will include the availability of tickets, coffee, popcorn, and even, the reservation of tickets, all according to the frequency of the customer.
Still this month, the entity's board of directors will publish the announcement for those who wish to participate in the X Mova-se Dance Festival. The event will take place exceptionally in September and will have an extensive program in several cultural spaces.
