Amazon Peoples' Cultural Center hosts '1st State Meeting of Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Populations of the Amazon

The meeting will bring together the main indigenous leaderships of the State, as well as, the state bodies representing the indigenous cause and several authorities.

From April 16th (Tuesday) to 18th (Thursday), the Cultural Center for the Peoples of the Amazon - CCPA (former Suframa's Ball, at Silves Avenue, 22222, Industrial District) will host the "1st State Meeting of Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Populations of the Amazon"..

The event, held by the Coordination of Indigenous Peoples and Organizations of Amazonas (Coipam), with support from the State Secretary of Culture (SEC), proposes a "Dialogue for new directions in public policies for Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Populations". The meeting will bring together the main indigenous leaders of the state, as well as state agencies representing the indigenous cause and various authorities.

At the opening of the program, on Tuesday (16), at 9am, there will be a presentation of the show "Amazonian Scenes", of the Amazonas Folkloric Ballet. In the sequence, there is the Keynote Lecture "From subsistence economy to surplus negotiation", given by representatives of the Institute of Agricultural and Sustainable Forestry Development of the State of Amazonas (Idam); by the Indigenous entrepreneur, Obadias Sateré; and by the Secretary of Rural Production of Amazonas, Petrucio Pereira de Magalhães Júnior.

The Coordination of Indigenous Peoples and Organizations of the Amazon (Coipam) has the purpose of coordinating and representing the indigenous peoples and organizations of the Amazon in the state, national and international spheres.

Aiming to strengthen the autonomy of the indigenous peoples and organizations in the Amazon and foster the development of ethnic groups, the event seeks to establish partnerships for the implementation of programs and projects economically sustainable, using traditional knowledge and technology as a basis for the development of these populations.
