Óscar Ramos Cultural Center hosts the launching of the book 'Meninos do Manaquiri

The Cultural Center is housed in houses 69 and 77 on Bernardo Ramos Street in the Center.

Recently inaugurated by the Manaus City Hall, the Óscar Ramos Cultural Center will receive on Thursday, 21/11, at 7 pm, the launch of the book "Meninos do Manaquiriby Osíris M. Araújo da Silva. The cultural space, which will host a launch event for the first time, is located at Rua Bernardo Ramos, houses 69 and 77, in the Historical Center, and will be open to the public on the day.

Osíris' work is a memorialist novel that contains doses of humor, irony, nostalgia, and love, as it narrates a sentimental journey to a distant past in Manaquiri, in the interior of Amazonas state, where the "Meninos do Manaquiri" lived their adventures and discoveries, free from the direct control of their parents, and amidst the customs and culture of the residents of that region. The narrative is based on the memories of the author himself, who is one of the characters.

"There remain memories and longing for a time when we were alive, full of vigor and the capacity to discover a new world. Manaquiri helped us a lot to understand situations with which we were not familiar, which helped us enormously to build lives and personalities devoid of hypocrisy and false character", Osiris commented.

According to the author, the book will be available for purchase on the launching day, for R$ 50, "For those who want to buy it later, it will be sold at the Leitura bookstore, at Amazonas Shopping. In the future we also intend to launch it on the digital platform," he added.
