Films by the producer Z Leão (and some works from when he signed as Júnior Rodrigues) will be, this Saturday (05/11), starting at 6:30pm, at the Showcase of Amazonian Filmmakersat the Cine Teatro Guaranyby the State Secretary of Culture's (SEC) Art Film Society Program. The exhibition is free and has a rating of 12 years.
The Art Film Club program is continuous, with exhibitions every Saturday, with the aim of giving visibility to the cinematography produced in the Amazon, valuing the work done by local filmmakers.
About the filmmaker
Born in Anori, in the countryside of the state of Amazonas, Júnior Rodrigues started working in the cinema at the age of 15, in a German production, made in Barcelos. Idealizer of the UM Amazonas Festival and of the Curta 4.2, Júnior has already made 50 short films in Rondônia, 30 in Rio Grande do Sul, 30 in Roraima, 2 in Uruguay, 10 in Venezuela, more than 500 in the 30 cities of Amazonas and 600 in Manaus, besides more than 150 workshops and cinema courses for more than 5 thousand people.
Now as Z Leão, he works at the production company "Z Filmes". He recently finished shooting his first feature film, filmed in various municipalities in the interior, revealing the beauty of the Amazon landscape. The feature film is in the editing stage and was made through a Low Budget Edital from the then Ministry of Culture. "It is a feature film for the family," says the filmmaker.
About the works
This Saturday, the short films will be screened in two phases. From Júnior Rodrigues, the public will see "Cabocão.com.br", "Deprê de Pobrê", "Validade Até 21.12.2012", "Uayná", "Pobredor" and the unreleased "Amor que Mata". As Z Leão, "Curado", "Well Kill" and the new "Plastic Flowers Don't Kill" will be shown.
