The screening of the feature film will be held at Cine Teatro Guaranyon Sete de Setembro Avenue, attached to the Palácio Rio Negro Cultural CenterCultural Center, Center of Manaus. The rating is 16 years and admission is free.
The Art Film Club is a program held by the State Secretariat of Culture (SEC), with film screenings on Saturdays, with the proposal to give visibility to the productions developed by local filmmakers.
Engaged in authorial cinema, Jimmy Christian, who is a photojournalist, took advantage of an old passion for cars and produced his first film during a trip to Brasília to pick up an Opala he had bought over the internet. "I have always been a fan of the car, ever since the 80's, when I went out to make out in the black Opala of the father of a friend of mine. It was love at first sight. As the years went by, the desire to own one got stronger and stronger. Then, in 2016, on the internet sales marketplace, I found a red 1975 Opala sedan," he relates.
The idea
Inspired by the classic "No Destination", by director Dennis Hoper, Jimmy wrote a script for a "Road Movie", a kind of film that takes place during a trip. He gathered his wife, his son and a friend and they decided to pick up the car in the Federal District. The return trip, now with the Opala, was along the Brasília-Belém and Belém-Manaus highways, for a total distance of 3,800 kilometers.
Due to lack of resources, the feature took two years to be edited. However, Jimmy discovered a video editing application and, on his cell phone, managed to complete the editing. "The incredible thing is that I thought I didn't have the film, but when I checked the images I realized I had done the right thing," he says.
