A Cia de Atores Escalafobéticosactive in the theater scene in Amazonas for 12 years, will launch this weekend a new humor label: A Turma da Dona Maceta. The work should mark a new moment in local comic production.
Under the direction of Wallace Abreu, who will also give life to the title character of the new label, the Escalafobéticos promise to present a new scenic format, never before worked by the company.
"In 2007 we brought to Manaus the language of Stand Up Comedy, which was exploding in Brazil, and years later we started to work in the city with improvisational theater. Now, with 'A Turma da Dona Maceta', we will bring to the amazonian public a show in the 'sitcom' format, a style that has been very successful in humorous programs on cable TV in Brazil," explains Abreu.
In its first season, "A Turma da Dona Maceta" should be divided into 5 parts, always presented on the last Saturday of each month, between July and November, at the Gebes Medeiros TheaterTheater, in the Center of Manaus. Abreu explains that the class should address a different theme in each presentation, which within the set, present a continuation of the plot of the characters.
New characters
Those who already follow the activities of the Scalapobetics will be in for a surprise, since the classic characters of the troupe - such as Miss Pé Rexé - will not appear in "A Turma da Dona Maceta". "This is a great challenge that we have taken on. We have a very beautiful story with characters that made history on the stage of the Escalafobéticos, but we needed to make room for new creations," explains Eduardo Gomes, the company's actor, who in "Dona Maceta" will give life to the "retired" Miquétson.
"Miquétson is a character unlike anything I've ever done. But it is a gamble, especially because we are working with male characters again, after a long break working only with female characters", she points out.
The work also counts with the participation of actors Omã Freire, Fábio Batista, and Elyton Pereira.
Format
Originally, the term sitcom is intended for a type of comedic television production, recorded in theaters or studios with audiences. Even though it is not a television product, Abreu explains that the plot will unfold as if it were being filmed. "We will assume the joke that we are behind the scenes recording this show. At times, the actors will deconstruct their characters, being on stage as real personas."
Another new feature is related to set construction. "The last few works of Scalapobetics have taken place in empty space. In this new format, the space will be filled and worked in a realistic way to the environment in which these characters are inserted", emphasizes Abreu.
