Film Criticism is the theme of a free round of talks

The book is a collection of the best reviews and interviews produced on the movie site produced in Manaus.

Film criticism will be the topic of a conversation circle promoted by the film website Cine Set this coming Saturday, 22/6. The free activity will take place from 3:30 pm, at Coffee with Textlocated at Belo Horizonte street, 1391, Adrianópolis, South-Central zone of Manaus. The event is the second counterpart of the book "Cine Set and the Film Criticism in Amazonas".contemplated in the Edictal of Cultural Connections 2017, of Manaus City Hall.

The event will be conducted by Cine Set critic and psychologist, Danilo Areosa, with two other members of the site: Gabriel Oliveira and Susy Freitas, author of the book. The special guests of the event are also defined: university professor, researcher, and audiovisual director Gustavo Soranz, the cultural journalist from A Crítica, Rosiel Mendonça, and the creator of the literary project 'Cardinal Comma,' Maria Cecília Costa.

"The proposal of the event is to have a debate about the moment of criticism. With the social networks and YouTube, many times, the public ends up confusing what is opinion and what is a real review. Help clarify these differences, talk about the importance and relevance of the critic nowadays and how to improve in this profession will go through the round of conversation", said the editor-in-chief of Cine Set, Caio Pimenta. There will also be a historical rescue about important critics in the history of Amazonas.

Book Cine Set

Before the conversation round, Cine Set launches the book "Cine Set e a Crítica Cinematográfica do Amazonas" on Wednesday, 19/6. The night with the autograph session starts at 7:30 pm, at Casarão de Ideias, located at Rua Barroso, 279, in the Center of Manaus.

The book is a collection of the best reviews and interviews published on the movie site produced in Manaus. The work presents, in the introduction, a brief trajectory of film criticism in Amazonas. The first steps of the textual genre in the first half of the 20th century, through the magazine 'Cinéfilo', by José Gaspar, to the radio programs commanded by Ivens Lima and Joaquim Marinho, until the launching of the Cine Set will be approached.

Next, the public will be able to see a collection of the best texts of the Cine Set. Reviews of local films like "Formas de Voltar Para Casa", by Rafael Ramos, and "Os Monstros", by Bernardo Abinader, share the space with analyses of national and international feature films like "O Som ao Redor", "O Processo", "Django Livre", "Corra", among others. The interviews made by the site, with names like Fernanda Montenegro, Jean Claude-Bernadet, Anna Muylaert, Márcio Souza, Tom Zé, Othon Bastos, and Pablo Villaça will also be highlighted in the book.

Open to the public, the book launching will count with the presence of all the Cine Set members for the autograph night and cocktail. Each book will be sold for $ 30 on the night of the event. As provided in the notice, 25 copies will be delivered to Manauscult . The site also provides for donation of the book to universities and art schools in Manaus.
