Book and Comic Book Swapping Fair' at the Amazonas Public Library

The project reaches its 32nd edition with the goal of promoting the circulation of knowledge, expand the Library's collection, and encourage the habit of reading.

This Sunday (30/6), from 8am to noon, the traditional "Book and Comic Book Exchange Fair at Amazonas Public Library (Rua Barroso, 57, Centro). The event will have free admission.

The project, which always happens on the last Sunday of each month, reaches the 32nd edition with the aim of promoting the circulation of knowledge, expand the library's collection, and encourage the habit of reading.

This edition's program will include the "Bibliotour", a guided tour around the Public Library, telling the history and architecture of one of the most emblematic historical assets of Amazonas.

The event's program also includes a reading round of children's literature classics in prose, which will be mediated by the SEC's "Mania de Ler" program team. "We will tell the stories of 'The Monkey and the Jaguar' and 'The Feast of the Birds in the Sky', to music. They are works of the Amazon writer José Guimarães dos Santos, better known as Seu Maraca, who writes short stories in prose and verse, "explains Oiana Couto, manager of the Department of Literature of SEC.

The Book and Comic Book Exchange Fair will also receive a gaucho folk dance presentation, with the Adana dance group, from teacher José Gomes Nogueira.

How to participate

On the day of the event, the participant must bring books and comic books that will be exchanged for coupons. Each coupon will entitle the participant to exchange a book for another book, and a comic book for another comic book. The comic book coupons also entitle the participants to exchange children's literature books.

The books will be analyzed upon delivery for their state of conservation. Didactic, technical, and school books will not be accepted, only books of general literature, Brazilian literature, Amazon literature, children's and youth literature, comic books, books related to the Amazon, biographies, and arts.
