It is no secret that practicing sports is very beneficial for people of all ages, but in the case of children, it contributes to the development of several skills, including increased respiratory capacity, socialization, resistance, reasoning, and motor coordination. But how to encourage the little ones to play sports? The physical educator and coordinator of the Sinepe-AM (Sindicato dos Estabelecimentos de Ensino Privado do Estado do Amazonas) Children's Race, Fabiana Farias da Silva, points out that an excellent alternative is to present sports as a form of leisure.
"Practicing some modality together with your children is a way to encourage children, making it a form of family fun", indicated the physical educator. Supporting and accompanying them in competitions also helps the little ones to associate a good experience and happy moments to sports.
Another tip for parents and guardians is to help the little ones choose a sport. Fabiana explains that the ideal is that the modality goes according to the kids' personal tastes. "Ballet, judo, capoeira, running, soccer, basketball, biking, jiu-jitsu, dancing, swimming, among others! There is a wealth of options available to try out and learn. Many times the child doesn't identify with the first or second sport, while there are those who like several sports", comments the educator.
She points out that some care must be taken so that the excess of exercise does not hinder the normal development of the child, so it is essential to have the supervision of a physical education teacher and the monitoring of a pediatrician to assess the limits of each child according to their own development.
