In celebration of its three-year anniversary, the Espatódea Trupe will perform, on July 5th, the 2nd Repertoire Showcase of the company. The event will feature the presentation of two shows aimed at the children and youth audience: "Upiara and the Legend of Fresh Water" e "The Walking Knight and His Faithful Squire. Performances start at 8 PM at the Amazonas Theater and tickets are already available on the site Digital Box Office.
For the director and playwright of the shows, Emille Nóbrega, it is important to think of actions aimed at children in the city. "Lately I have seen more children's plays than four or five years ago. This is very important for the city, besides contributing to the formation of a public, stimulating children from an early age to consume art and appreciate local culture," she says.
"We hope that this will be a program for the whole family. It is a time to bring everyone together, laugh, and be moved by stories that stimulate the imagination, make us dream and believe in a better world," adds the director.
Imagination and literature
"Upiara e a Lenda da Água Doce" is a children's play that praises popular culture and Brazilian folklore. Its dramaturgy is intended to stimulate children to the habit of reading.
The play tells the story of a girl who, on a day like any other, receives as a gift from her mother a book that tells, in a playful way, the origin of the Amazon River. Delighted with what she reads, the little girl and her friends are transported inside the plot and end up meeting legendary characters from the tales and legends of the forest, where they live adventures they love to tell.
The Wandering Knight and His Faithful Squire" is a free adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes' work. In the plot, Alonso is a young gentleman who devotes himself to reading chivalric romances. Confusing fantasy and reality, he decides to imitate the heroes and go in search of adventures with his faithful squire Sancho Panza. In the middle of the road he ends up proclaiming himself a knight named 'Don Quixote' and travels for days to find his great love, Dulcinea, an invention inspired by an old passion.
The shows will be presented in sequence, without intermission.
