This Saturday morning (11/16), a group of 12 professionals will leave Manaus heading to Borba, the first stop on the Cultural Expedition Cultural Expedition held by the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. Until the 24th, the project's debut edition will also pass through Nova Olinda do Norte and Autazes, with activities that promote the cultural life of these locations.
The Cultural Expedition will stay for two days in each of the three towns, with dance workshops (given by dancers from the Balé Folclórico do Amazonas), graffiti workshops (with visual artist Alessandro Hipz) and workshops on the elaboration of cultural projects (with economist Karla Martins), film sessions, living with singer and composer Antônio Pereira, and presentations by the names that make up the expedition and by artists from the towns.
"The idea of the expedition is to plant seeds. The entire action is being developed in partnership with the city halls of the municipalities, because our idea is to arrive and show cultural development alternatives for each location, with support from the state, but without dependence on it. Very soon we will be reaching more communities because the goal is to go all over the interior", explains the State Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz.
Apolo points out that, in each city, the project will promote workshops that help local artists to enhance their work, as well as experiences with artists from the capital, which will allow an exchange of experiences and the opening of new horizons. "We thought about taking tools that enable the artists scattered around our state to know how to apply for a public notice and how to make a living from their artistic work, because we believe in the social power of culture and in the importance of the creative economy," he points out.
With experience in giving urban art workshops in Manaus and in the countryside, the visual artist Alessandro Hipz points out that the activity is aimed at the public of all ages and does not require experience or drawing skills. "The work with spray paint is very intuitive, we develop it on the spot, improving our motor coordination. Of course, practice improves it, but you don't need to know how to draw to participate", he explains.
Hipz observes that graffiti arouses a lot of interest in young people and, for this reason, he expects a large participation in the expedition. "What I have seen is that everyone, but especially young people, see themselves very represented in this art. And, as the action is all very practical, we will leave a collective mural in each town, which will remember this seed that was planted and strengthen the community's sense of belonging", he concludes.
