Sensations are caused, captured and felt by the human body. Inspired by these sensations, the artist Leandro Guerreiro Tapajós, 34 years old, gathered some of his main works in a new exhibition that started this Tuesday (19) at Bistrô do Leandroa cultural-gastronomic space located in the Historical Center of Manaus.
The show "Natu Corpu brings together acrylic paintings on canvas, drawings with black ink and charcoal, and digital art. The works are a collection of 14 years, with pieces never exhibited and others that participated in salons and group exhibitions in galleries in Manaus.
"I have always liked to paint, photograph, and observe the human body. There is a beauty, a poetry, in the forms. It causes reactions - from repulsion, to desire, to love. The body is also an antenna that captures emotions and expresses them. The works in the exhibition summarize a little of all this, this body-feeling relationship. The exhibition also marks a return. I have been away from the art circuit since 2015, taking on the role of artist," said Tapajós.
Works
Among the works there are works from his first exhibition, the group show "New Fifteen", held by the State Secretary of Culture, in 2005. The event had the purpose of revealing the new names of the plastic arts in Amazonas that year.
'In "Natu Corpu" I go through moments of loneliness, anguish, freedom, and also proposes a reflection on the sexual look of the human body. The work "Reactions" is responsible for this reflection and criticizes the way people usually react to something that could be natural, nudity,' reveals Tapajós. In 2008, the show was contemplated by SEC's Programming Edital and was curated by Jandr Reis. Marcelo Ramos, Elizabeth Lima, Paulo Olivença, and Tapajós created the works of "Ante o nude" after meetings in a sexy shopping mall where Ramos worked.
Art where the people are
Natu Corpu's paintings, drawings and digital art will be displayed on the walls of the Bistro Leandro, in the street Costa Azevedo, 159 - Manaus Center, Monday to Friday, from 12h to 17h. The place receives tourists and residents who, besides seeing art, can eat local gastronomic dishes.
"I have already participated in street shows, in squares, in nightclubs, and in traditional galleries. I think that, more and more, it is necessary to take art to the places where people actually go around. How many people are not surprised when they go into a restaurant to eat a regional fish for lunch and come across works of art? We need to take art to the people, especially in the current moment in which we live. Brazil needs art. I believe that we should make art more and more a normal and integral part of our daily lives. Who ever thought of eating a tambaqui rib, something very Amazonian, while looking at contemporary works of art?
Before the Natu Corpo show, the space received the exhibition "Cabocla", by photographer Rodrigo Reis Valle. The bistro opens space for new names of regional contemporary art who wish to exhibit their work.
The works on display are also for sale and can be purchased directly from the artist on site. Tapajós is also a writer and author of the book "50 kg after", in which he tells his experiences during the 10 years he underwent bariatric surgery. The work can also be purchased on site.
