Manaus gains, in the month of June, two exhibitions composed of works by Parintinense artists: "Geo+metrics", which provokes aesthetic experiments on modern abstractionism; and "Parintins in Colorswhich portrays the city's regional daily life. The exhibitions will be held at the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center and at the Public Library of Amazonasrespectively, with free access.
Geo+Metrics
"Geo+Metria" gets a revival from this Tuesday (18/6), at the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center. The show consists of productions by students of the Center for Visual Arts at the Claudio Santoro High School of Arts and Crafts - Parintins Unit and is curated by artist Jair Jacqmont.
The paintings and installations of the exhibition cause an intriguing aesthetic experience, because they offer a reflection on modern abstractionism around concepts proposed by big names in art history, such as the Russians Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevitch, the Dutchman Piet Mondrian, and the Brazilians Hélio Oiticica and Lygia Clark.
"The proposal is to break paradigms about inquiries about local knowledge and artistic making, categorizing the students of the High School - Parintins Unit as artists responsible for this revolution, while enabling the construction of knowledge and interest in their artistic production," comments curator Jair Jacqmont.
"Geo+metrics" will be on display until September during the Palácio da Justiça's visiting hours: Tuesday through Saturday, from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday, from 9am to 2pm.
Parintins in Colors
The Amazonas Public Library (Rua Barroso, 57, Centro) will receive, starting June 27, the exhibition "Parintins in Colors", curated by Jandr Reis. The exhibition consists of 29 works of 14 artists parintinenses members of the collective Parintins in Color and depicts the daily life of the city, as well as its indigenous and riverine origins.
The artists in the show use different techniques in their work. Afonso Filho masterfully portrays the riverine daily life; Altemar Ribeiro dominates the technique with precision in the predominance of airbrushing; Andrew Viana uses the airbrushing and oil technique with perfection when dealing with the indigenous theme; Arildo Mendes uses his surrealist technique to register the local daily life; Augusto Tavares uses oil on canvas to demonstrate nature.
Emerson Brasil uses the human body to express his art; Evanil Maciel uses the spatula to express the daily life in Parintins; Ian Barreto uses oil on canvas to evidence the riverside life; Josinaldo Mattos uses airbrushing and stencil in his urban art and demonstrates primacy when registering urban scenes and indigenous ethnicities.
Malú Moura is a performance artist and manifests the urban; Miguel Carneiro uses oil paint on canvas to exhibit his art; Paulinho Anselmo accurately portrays in mixed technique his art with indigenous themes; Pito Silva uses airbrushing to exhibit his production; and Trindade also uses oil paint to show his imaginary world and Amazonian legends.
According to Jandr Reis, the proposal is based on providing an opportunity for the visibility of the work developed by these artists. "Proposing a collective exhibition opens up possibilities both for the public, in terms of artistic knowledge, and for the authors of the works, who will have the chance to present their work," he says.
"Parintins in Color" will be available for visitation at the Amazonas Public Library from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
