On Saturday (4), at 4pm, as part of the 'Opera Mirim' program, will be presented Rossini on a String at Hospital e Pronto-Socorro da Criança, Joãozinho, in the East Zone. The puppet theater show is staged by the group Little Theater of the World, led by artists Fabiana Barbosa and Fábio Retti. Uniting the erudite with the playful, the project's objective is to facilitate access to the opera for the little ones and for the public in general.
The show tells the story of the Italian composer's life and some of his most famous compositions. "We talk a bit about his childhood and adult life, the backstage of the opera, his compositions, all this while interacting with the audience," says Fabiana Barbosa.
Rossini wrote 39 operas, most of them comic. In the show are presented: 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' ('The Barber of Seville'), 'La Cenerentola' ('Cinderella')', 'La Gazza Ladra ('The Thieving Whore')', 'Guilherme Tell' ('Guillaume Tell'), and 'Duetto buffo di due gatti' ('Duet of the Cats')', the latter being attributed to Rossini.
On Sunday, at 11am, the "'Opera Mirim' will be in the hall of the Teatro Amazonas, with the presentation of L'enfant et les Sortilèges' ('The Boy and the Sortilèges')by Maurice Ravel. It is a lyrical fantasy, a metaphor for childhood and maturing inspired by the poems of Gabrielle Colette. It tells the story of a boy who faces his emotions. Through enchantments, the objects come to life and help the boy to live in a more human and generous way.

Also on Sunday, at Teatro Amazonas, at 7pm, will be presented the opera 'Maria Stuarda', by Donizetti. The soloists Cristina Giannelli, Tatiana Carlos, Dhijana Nobre, Paulo Mandarino, Fred Oliveira, and Pepes do Valle will perform. The duration is 3 hours, with two 20-minute intervals.
'Maria Stuarda' is based on Friedrich Schiller's play and narrates the rivalry between cousins Mary, Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth, Queen of England. It is part of the so-called 'Queens of Donizetti' - Anna Boleyn, Maria Stuarda and Roberto Devereux - which have Elizabeth I as the main character.
It will be the Brazilian premiere of the critical edition of the work, presented by the Choir of the Amazonas, the Theater Nucleus of the Claudio Santoro High School of Arts and Crafts, and the Amazonas Philharmonic, conducted by Marcelo de Jesus.
