With the proposal to enhance the new talents of jazz Amazon, are open entries for the Young Instrumentalist Competitionwhich is part of the program of the 10th Amazonas Jazz Festival (FAJ), held by the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat of Culture (SEC).
The announcement of the competition is available on the site of the Secretary of Cultureinterested parties can apply online until September 15, by mail until September 9, or in person until September 13 at the headquarters of SEC, located at Avenida Sete de Setembro, 1546, Centro, CEP 69005-141, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
The competition will be held at the state level, in the categories solo/duo, trios, quartets, quintets or sextets.
Stages
The competition will take place in four stages. The first two are eliminatory and will take into consideration the documentation sent and the analysis of the works recorded and attached to the candidate's registration.
In the qualifying stage, the participants must perform two songs of their own choice live, at a date and place to be defined by the organizing committee of the competition. The grand final will take place in March of next year, at the Amazonas Theater, during the tenth edition of the Amazonas Jazz Festival.
Awarding
The winners of the solo and duo categories will receive R$7 thousand (1st place), R$5 thousand (2nd place), and R$4 thousand (3rd place). The first place winners in trios, quartets, quintets or sextets will win R$ 9 thousand (1st place), R$ 7 thousand (2nd place) and R$ 6 thousand (3rd place).
The competition will also award one candidate with the Almir Fernandes Prize, worth R$ 2 thousand, valid for any category of participation, for the exceptional talent demonstrated. The name of the award pays homage to drummer Almir Fernandes, who was an important cultural agent and propagator of jazz in Amazonas.
FAJ
The Amazonas Jazz Festival will once again become part of the state's cultural calendar between March 21 and 29, 2020, with the proposal to bring together in the capital of Amazonas great names in contemporary jazz and will offer entertainment and culture at a high level for the population.
Besides the Young Instrumentalist Contest, the program will have more than 30 events - from Brazilian instrumental music concerts to contemporary jazz, as well as free workshops, lectures, and master classes.
The official site of the festival will go online on August 15, and ticket sales will begin on September 21, at the box office of the Teatro Amazonas and at bilheteriadigital.com.
