Shows, workshops, conversation rounds, occupations, music and audiovisual shows, and other artistic and cultural activities will mark the Até o Tucupi Festival of Integrated Artswhich reaches its 13th edition next week, from November 20th to 23rd, in several places in Manaus. The festival's program is totally free.
Once again, the Até o Tucupi festival emphasizes racial issues in its program, in remembrance of Black Consciousness Day and the struggles of the black population. The opening show, on November 20, starting at 8 PM, will take to the stage of the Amazonas Theater young black artists from the city of Manaus and the North region, some performing on this stage for the first time.
The program starts with a collective show by Ian Lecter, Karen Francis, Kurt Sutil, Lua Negra, Anna Suav & Bruna BG (PA) and DJ Naty Veiga. The event also features the release of the EP "Fruto do Bem", by the singer and composer Jéssica Stephens, who, despite being from Roraim, established her musical career in Manaus and now lives in São Paulo, where she bets on her work. The festival continues until November 23rd, with the Music Exhibition and other artistic activities.
Reflection and formation
Reflecting on the arts and the transforming role of culture, the Festival is also integrated with actions and projects that take place in the city. One of them is the event "Filochoppando", that happens every Tuesday, at Vila Vagalume, and that, on November 19th, as a "warm up" for the Até o Tucupi Festival, receives the round of talks "Music Meeting: New Scene New - Media and Dissemination", starting at 8pm, with the mediation of the singer and producer of the Até o Tucupi Festival, Elisa Maia, in a chat about new possible narratives, press office and social media, and communication in times of "cancellation".
The round already has confirmed debaters: Rosiel Mendonça (journalist and cultural agent), Viktor Judah (music producer and musician from the band República Popular), Anna Suav (singer, composer and journalist) and the site Viva Manaus (Manaus City Hall portal that covers culture issues).
On the 21/11, the Diffusion Collective presents the fourth edition of the project "Diffusion at School _ Black Awareness", at the Professora Sônia Maria da Silva Barbosa Municipal School, in the morning and afternoon shifts, with film screenings and conversation circle about racial issues and artistic performances. On the 21st and 22nd, the workshops "Communication skills for independent festivals", facilitated by artist and journalist Anna Suav, and "Production skills for independent festivals", facilitated by producers Elisa Maia and Michelle Andrews, will also take place.
Music Festival
The already traditional Music Showcase closes the Festival's program, on November 23rd, with the participation of more than ten artists from Amazonas, Pará and São Paulo. The performances start at 4pm, divided between the open arena and the covered area of the Padre Pedro Vignola Family Living Center, in Cidade Nova, in the northern part of Manaus.
With a strong presence of women in the lineup, the Até o Tucupi Festival proposes the parity of genders on stage and highlights the presence of artists Karen Francis, Renata Martins, the band Pacato Plutão, which has the singer Cynara Lima on vocals, in addition to the connection with the North region, with a show by the rappers duo Anna Suav & Bruna BG, both with consolidated work in the city of Belém/PA, and who also invite rappers from the Amazon Lary Go & Strela and Catarina.
Rock is also guaranteed to be present, in styles ranging from indie to hardcore and grunge, with the bands Líbito, Alderia, and Pacato Plutão itself.
The rap scene shows why it is a phenomenon of players on YouTube and other digital platforms, besides being the headliner of major festivals in Brazil and, in Manaus, it would be no different. Besides the artists from Belém, Anna Suav & Bruna BG, the Amazonian Ian Lecter and the band Aposse92 - collective that brings together the rappers Kurt Sutil, Do Carmo, Jhonatan UE and Ligeirinho AM -, the Até o Tucupi Festival brings to town for the first time the rapper from São Paulo, Raffa Moreira (self-titled Aka BC Raffa), consolidated as an icon of the trap subgenre and a phenomenon with hits like "Bro, faz sol", "10K" and the recent and controversial "Fah Fah Fah". The artists will promote a great celebration of the style, exactly in the North Zone, the cradle of rap in Amazonia.
The access is free in all activities of the program.
