With pocket shows, graffiti interventions, case shows, and Break, MCs and All Style battles, the first edition of the Urban Culture Festival will move the east, north and south zones of Manaus next weekend. The event will take place on Friday (November 15th), Saturday (16th) and Sunday (November 17th), from 5pm to 9pm, respectively at Skateboarding Track - Parque São Joséin the Food Court in Cidade Nova and in the Prosamim Mestre Chico. Access will be free.
The state secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, points out that urban culture is also an important ally of social movements. "Urban culture has a great impact on society's struggle on several social issues, through art. Hip hop, for example, is a movement that unites music, dance, and graffiti, and is able to attract young people, often occupying their idle time with art", he observes.
The Festival aims to make an exchange between the street culture artists who are found in the peripheral areas of the capital and the interior of the state, as well as to create a productive chain of cultural entrepreneurs, giving the artist the opportunity to expand access to the communities through urban manifestations, including dance, crafts and creative economy.
Registration to participate in the battles is free and will take place at the time of the event. There will be awards for the winners of the three categories.
