Parintins Festival hits record number of visitors

The popular festival of the oxen Caprichoso and Garantido had an increase in the volume of tourists by 10.53% compared to the year 2018, in which it attracted about 60 thousand.

O 54th Parintins Folkloric Festival hit a record in the number of visitors, with the landing of 66,321 tourists, according to a preliminary survey by the Department of Statistics of the State Tourism Company of Amazonas (Amazonastur). The popular festival of the bulls Caprichoso and Garantido - which had the support of the State Government - had an increase in the volume of tourists by 10.53% compared to the year 2018, in which it attracted about 60 thousand.

"This result is positive, but I believe we will advance even more. This year, Amazonastur has already had a participation directed exclusively to tourism. The Turistódromo was a success. More than 10 thousand people passed through there. The participation of international, national and local operators was also very important to help promote Amazonas in Brazil and abroad", said the president of the agency, Roselene Medeiros.

Still according to Amazonastur, from this total of tourists in Parintins, 70.24% of the visitors were from Amazonas itself. The second state that sent more tourists to the Tupinambarana Island was Pará (14.45%), followed by São Paulo (4.43%), Rio de Janeiro (1.86%) and Santa Catarina (1.43%).

The year 2016 follows as the period that attracted the least visitors to Parintins, with the landing of 23.5 thousand.

Average spending

During the survey conducted by the Department of Statistics it was found that the average tourist spending in 2019 was also higher compared to the 2018 festival, staying around R$ 147.39 (12.73% higher than the average spending per day last year).
