Passo a Paço Festival: Arts, culture and gastronomy at Manaus Historical Center

The Festival is part of the 350th anniversary program of the city of Manaus and will have four days of music, arts and gastronomy, from September 5 to 8. The entire program is free.

In the long holiday of the first week of September, the Historic Center of Manaus will be occupied, once again, by art and culture, in another edition of the Passo a Paço Festivalone of the largest cultural festivals in the North region, promoted by the Manaus City Hall. The Passo a Paço is part of the 350th anniversary program of the city of Manaus and will have four days of music, arts and gastronomy, from September 5th to 8th. The entire program is free of charge.

The festival, this year, brings great news, among them, two more days of festivities, one of them dedicated to children and teenagers, local, national and international attractions, besides the occupation of a new area inside the Port of Manaus, with new entrance and exit accesses, and the operation of the City Museum, open to the Passo a Paço public for the first time.

Banana Stage

For the first time open to the external public, a stage will be set up in the area inside the Privatized Port of Manaus, behind the historic Customs building. At the site will pass names like Roberta Miranda, Jaloo, Sidney Magal, Letrux, Baco Exu do Blues, and local attractions such as Guto Lima, Anne Jezini, James Rios, among others.

Besides the Banana stage, two stages already known by the public will receive great attractions: the Malcher platform (on the banks of the Negro River) and the Coreto (at Dom Pedro II Square).

Access to the stages

Aiming at ease of access, in this edition there will be a new entrance that will take the public directly to the Banana Stage and Malcher Platform. The access will be through the parking lot of the Port of Manaus (next to the Asya Fashion store in front of the bus terminal). Through this entrance, the public will be able to go straight to the main stages.

The entrances through Sete de Setembro and Governador Vitório avenues will still be the main access to Dom Pedro II square, where the food fair and other interventions will be set up. These entrances will also lead to the Malcher and Banana stages, passing through Taquerinha street and Vivaldo Lima (TS Club street).

Another novelty this year will be the exit of the public who are on the Malcher Stage. The same must be done, exclusively, through the street Visconde de Mauá, not being able to leave the site through the same place of entry.

Musical Attractions

The main attraction this year is the American rapper and music producer CeeLo Green, who will perform on the first day of the event, September 5, on the Plataforma Malcher stage.

In addition to the artists already mentioned on the Banana Stage, the line-up of Passo a Paço 2019 includes the band Liniker e os Caramelows, funkeira Ludmilla, rapper Emicida, singer Fagner and sambista Zeca Pagodinho.

And more than 30 local artists will add to the national attractions, brightening and giving the Amazonian touch to the event. They will command the stages of the bandstand at Dom Pedro II Square, Banana, and Plataforma Malcher.

The complete program can be accessed at the portal Viva Manaus.

Passinho

Innovating, once again, and thinking about the leisure and safety of children and young people, the last day of Passo a Paço 2019, Sunday, 8/9, will be totally dedicated to families. On this day, the cultural programming will be concentrated on the Arena stage (Paço da Liberdade parking lot) and on the Coreto, next to the Gastronomic Fair.

Theater

Considered a national reference in puppet theater, the Grupo Giramundo, which has 50 years of trajectory, is the proposal that the Passo a Paço Festival brings this year. A commemorative exhibition will be mounted in the space of the Port Museum, under the administration of the Manaus City Hall, which will also perform the urban intervention in the streets of the historic center, where the event takes place, with puppets over 4 meters high.
