Generation 6.0 connected: grandparents and grandfathers increasingly access social networks

The survey also points out where the most connected seniors in the country are.

This Thursday (26) is the day of grandparents, people who until recently were still considered "analog". But the development of technology has opened space for the most diverse age groups, including those who are 60 or older. TIM conducted a survey to analyze the behavior of men and women in the segments Pre, Control and Post from this age and how is their relationship with technological advancement today.

The data revealed that 61% of the clients above 60 years old use data packages. This can be attributed to the popularization of internet via cell phone, as well as the growth in the use of smartphones. The survey also points out that when it comes to who uses the internet the most, women have an advantage, with 63%.

The survey also took into consideration where the most connected elderly people in the country are. The "grandpas" and grandmas" from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are the biggest internet fans, with, respectively, 72% and 71% of the Brazilian connections. Another interesting fact is that almost half of the people over 60 who live in the Northeast region use the great network.

Likes and "zap" chat

When it comes to what they access on the Internet, social networks are the big highlights, followed by communication apps and video streaming services. If added together, these first three items make up 55% of the apps most used by the 6.0 generation.

Facebook is the most used application by those aged 60 and over. The platform was pointed out by 97.3% and is only ahead of WhatsApp (97.1%). Youtube also stands out and is in the third position of most accessed applications, with 95.1%.
