O Lar das Mariaswhich offers support to women with cancer, has a space at the Amazonas Shopping Amazonas Shoppingto sell handicrafts, whose income will be reverted to the maintenance of the institution's activities. This is the sixth year that the shopping center makes an area available for the nursing home volunteers to develop activities during the campaign "Pink October". In addition to selling products, the volunteers are also receiving hair donations, to make wigs for the patients assisted by the entity.

The Lar das Marias stand will be open until November 3rd, in the area next to Bob's, from Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 10pm, and on Sundays, from 2pm to 9pm. Lar das Marias was founded in 2006 and currently serves 20 women and their companions. The entity offers lodging, with full meals, appointments and transportation for consultations, exams and treatments, as well as monitoring by a psychologist and a social worker.

At the stand in the Amazonas Shopping Mall, visitors can find products such as napkins, cloth dolls, decorated bottles, rosaries and scapulars. The "Outubro Rosa" campaign shirts are being sold for R$30. The handcraft pieces are produced by volunteers from Lar das Marias, who meet weekly to make them.

For those who wish to donate hair for wigs, it is necessary that the hair be longer than 10 centimeters. There is no requirement regarding any specific type of hair. The recommendation is that before the delivery, people tie the hair with a garter and put it in a plastic bag.

Pink October

The "Pink October" campaign has as its main objective to alert women and society in general about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer and, in the case of Amazonas, also of cervical cancer, because of the high incidence in the state.
