Manaus and Goiânia are celebrating!

Anniversary of the capitals of Amazonas and Goiás is another reason to celebrate historical, cultural and natural attractions that pulsate in the heart of the Amazon and the Cerrado.

This Wednesday (24th), the anniversary of 349 years of Manaus and 85th anniversary of Goiânia will be celebrated with moments that reveal the diversity of Brazil's tourist attractions. While the Boi Manaus performed at the Tourist Complex Ponta Negra of the state capital of Amazonas, in the capital of Goiânia the Vaca Brava Park will host, today, the Show in the Waters spectacle, a tribute with projection of images of local monuments created exclusively to honor the city.

If Goiânia has among its highlights more than 30 urban parks, Manaus, in the heart of the planet's largest tropical forest, is known for its freshwater beaches, such as Ponta Negra, and the "meeting" of the dark waters of the Negro River with the muddy waters of the Solimões River, which do not mix. The capital of Goiás is also popular for its Art Deco architecture, with the Esmeraldas Palace, the seat of state government. Manaus stands out for its imposing Teatro Amazonas, a symbol of the wealth that the region experienced in the heyday of the rubber cycle with the extraction and export of latex.

The metropolis in the North of the country is also an invitation to immerse yourself in the indigenous culture, in the immensity of the waters, and in the smells, colors, and flavors of the exotic and complex Amazonian biodiversity. In the middle of the forest, the city is also home to one of the largest industrial centers in Brazil, the Manaus Free Trade Zone. Goiânia is a modern commercial fashion center and is surrounded by the natural attractions of the Cerrado, alternating interests that range from ecotourism and adventure to visitors in search of new business.

A mandatory stop for tourists, the Municipal Market of Manaus, founded in 1882, is one of the most important commercial centers for regional products such as fruits, spices, and freshwater fish. Inspired by the Les Halles Market in Paris, in Art Noveau style, the big market has a central pavilion flanked by two others, in cast iron, and a lacy iron portico with stained glass windows. Also attracting visitors is the architectural complex of the Customs House and the Guarda Mouria in the Port Complex. The tower, with a lighthouse that is now deactivated, used to guide the ships that arrived in the city. The Port of Manaus is the largest floating port in the world, with level variations of up to 10 meters between the flood and ebb of the Negro River.

With seven municipal markets and more than 100 street markets, Goiânia invites the tourists to a tour through its vocation for commerce. But the attraction goes far beyond the commercialization of vegetables, fruits, cereals, household utensils and handicrafts - it is the place, for example, to try a legitimate Goianian "empadão", one of the references of local gastronomy. Clothes and accessories, on the other hand, attract a crowd on Saturdays to the famous Fair of the Moon, at Tamandaré Square. On Sundays, the Hippie Fair - the biggest and oldest in the city - gathers more than 6 thousand registered market traders, who occupy the Praça do Trabalhador (Worker's Square) between the bus station and the train station.

Manaus and Goiânia are inserted in two Brazilian natural treasures - the Amazon and the Cerrado - considered biosphere reserves and natural heritage of humanity by Unesco. For the national secretary of Qualification and Promotion of Tourism of MTur, Bob Santos, the destinations are among the pearls of national tourism, bringing together experiences characteristic of two distinct regions of Brazil. "Diversity is one of the great attributes of the travel market in the country. Within this broad tourist offer that ranges from gastronomy to nature, each destination is unique. Manaus and Goiânia are beautiful examples of our potential in the sector", she concluded.
