With the goal of carrying out activities focused on environmental education, including the training of junior environmental agents, the State Government, through the Amazon Environmental Protection Institute (Ipaam), will inaugurate a thematic and ecological forest in Manaus still in this first semester. The site will be built in an area of 27 thousand square meters located in Ipaam, on Avenida Mario Ypiranga Monteiro, south-central zone of the capital.
The work to build the park began in October 2019, when a team from the Management of Mineral Resources (Germ) conducted a survey at the site, where they found characteristics of a fragment of primary and secondary floodplain vegetation, very appropriate for the creation of space.
"We have a green area in the back of Ipaam and our technicians informed us that the location favors the creation of a space for the development of activities focused mainly on environmental education. In addition, the site also has the presence of wildlife consisting of mammals, birds and insects, "said the director-president of the Institute, Juliano Valente.
The technical director of the environmental protection agency, Maria do Carmo, said that the forest will have trails, elevated walkways, signs identifying the botanical species present in the site, a building in wooden structure so that visitors can observe the vegetation, animals and the body of water baptized as Bindá, among other spaces.
"All accesses will be in accordance to the technical norms required for a thematic and ecological forest, observing the accessibility norms, especially for people with reduced disabilities," added Maria do Carmo.
Wood
The technical director explained that the wood used for the construction of the footbridge and other buildings in the forest comes from seizures and was donated by the Federal Police (PF).
