Manaus figures again as the fourth best city to live in Brazil and 127th in the world. The survey, conducted annually by consulting firm Mercerwhich analyzes items such as health, education, housing, and environment, was released last week and also shows that for the tenth year in a row, Vienna (Austria) is in first place worldwide.
Among the Brazilian cities in the ranking, the federal capital Brasília advanced one more position in relation to the previous year, ranking 107th. Rio de Janeiro continues as the second best placed city, at number 118, followed by São Paulo, 119ª. The ranking has a list with 231 cities and Manaus appears in the survey since 2014, when it hosted the World Cup and was classified as an emerging city, and has remained on the list since then.
"Each year, we seek to advance more and more in essential issues for manauaras, but also in tourist attractions, which is what governs this capital that is the metropolis of the Amazon, a world region of which everyone is interested in knowing", said Mayor Arthur Virgílio Neto. "We remain firmly in fourth place, which for us is, yes, a source of pride," concluded the mayor.
In mid-January, Manaus had already been highlighted in this aspect, when it topped a list of ten world destinations list of ten world destinations among the most interesting destinations of Brazilians for 2019.
