Later this April, the Manaus City Hall will reopen to the public the Tenreiro Aranha Squareon Guilherme Moreira street, Historical Center of Manaus. The measure was announced on Monday, 2/4, by Mayor Arthur Virgilio Neto, at a meeting with representatives of the Club of Shopkeepers Manaus (CDLM). In addition to the reopening of the square, the city is also studying traffic re-engineering on some streets in the center, as a way to increase and facilitate the access of people to trade, helping to improve sales.
Among the topics discussed at the meeting, the need to strengthen the enforcement of street vending in the center was mentioned. The undersecretary of Supply, Fairs and Markets (Subsempab), Fábio Albuquerque, explained that the city hall has already opened a selection process for the hiring of 100 new inspectors, which is being inspected by the State Court of Accounts. "But it will be solved and by the end of the month, God willing, we can count on these new inspectors," he said.
Renovation
With the reopening of Tenreiro Aranha square in the next few days, the layout from the 1920s will come to life. Totally adequate to the accessibility norms, the square had its floor replaced with white and black Portuguese stones, receiving new public lighting installations, signaling, benches, garbage cans, and landscaping composed of 47 new trees of the ipê and pau-pretinho species. The Universal Pavilion will be delivered later, next to the Adalberto Valle square, to which it will be moved. The construction work is part of the PAC Historic Cities program.
