With the goal of encouraging the habit of reading among children, the Public Library of the Amazonas will receive, on April 15, 16 and 17, the project "Lê Pra Mim?"of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The activity, which brings together personalities from the local and national scene and, in Amazonas, is supported by the State Secretariat of Culture (SEC), will take place at 8am, 9am, 10am, 2pm, and 3pm, on three days, with each meeting lasting approximately 45 minutes. Admission is free.
Artists and media personalities will participate in the event, telling their experiences and reading the chosen works to the children - the main audience of the activity. In this edition, in Manaus, have already confirmed the presence of actors Mariana Xavier, Ednelza Sahdo, Isabela Catão, Leonel Worton and Kid Mahal; the presenter Baby Rizzato; the singer Márcia Siqueira; the journalists Mazé Mourão, Moacyr Massulo and Oyama Filho; the writers Ana Peixoto and Leyla Leong; the digital influencer Leandro Xavier and the environmentalist Marcelo Dutra.
In all, there will be 15 literary meetings, each focusing on the reading of two children's books. Each presentation will have a Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreter, who will provide simultaneous translation for children with low hearing. To reinforce the practice, the participating children will take home a children's book.
The project was conceived by actress Sônia de Paula and produced by Marcelo Aouila. Lê Pra Mim?'' began in January 2010, in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, 31 editions were held, circulating through 14 cities, reaching about 27 thousand children. The project comes to Manaus for the first time.
The producer Marcelo Aouila highlights the importance of encouraging reading from an early age. "We believe that instruction, education, and culture guarantee the future of children. It is in books that they will seek answers, knowledge, and learning. If we can get children to enjoy reading, we will have achieved our goal," he says.
