Magazine and search site point Manaus as the preferred destination of Brazilians in 2019

Featured as the most searched Amazon city, Manaus tops the list among the ten most searched destinations in the world.

The capital of Amazonas tops a list of ten worldwide destinations that are among the most of interest of Brazilians for 2019. The publication made by the Glamour Magazine considers indications from specialists, besides the disclosure that the demand for Manaus in the travel search site Kayakincreased by 345% compared to last year.

Highlighted as the most sought-after Amazon city, Manaus tops the list among the ten most searched destinations in the world. Among the reasons are the high dollar and the demand for alternative destinations within the country and South America, a phenomenon that motivated the increase in searches for tickets to Foz do Iguaçu (166%), the only Brazilian city besides Manaus to appear on the list, and Lima (89%) in Peru.

"Even for those who don't have so much time, you can get a taste of the country's roots with a visit to Manaus," said the editor of lifestyle of Glamour magazine, Nathalia Fuzaro. "On a business trip, I spent two days there and I recommend having dinner at Caxiri - which, besides being in front of the Teatro Amazonas, serves exquisite dishes made with typical and rare ingredients -, and a boat ride along the meeting of the rivers Negro and Solimões. The tour also takes us to a village, where it is possible to visit an indigenous tribe and understand their culture", he highlighted.

The site also shows other destinations that may have benefited from specific events, such as the city of Dubrovnik, second in the search rankings, associated with the success of Croatia in the Russian World Cup in 2018. The capital of Amazonas had already been highlighted internationally in 2014, when it was elected by FIFA as the capital that most pleased the tourists who came to watch the games.

Also according to the publication, the city of Mykonos, Greece, is also the favorite destination for digital influencers and celebrities, who have had a direct Latam flight departing from São Paulo since December 15. The list is completed by Bogota (Colombia), Tel Aviv (Israel), Melbourne (Australia), Johannesburg (South Africa) and Guadalajara (Mexico).
