Sebrae and Federal Government sign partnership to strengthen tourism

Investe Mais Turismo Program is launched to increase the quality and competitiveness of 30 Brazilian Tourist Routes.

A Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute), the Ministry of Tourism and Sebrae (Brazilian Service of Support to Micro and Small Enterprises) launched, this Tuesday (28), in Brasília, the Investe Tourism ProgramThis initiative has as its central objective the convergence of actions and investments to promote development, generate jobs, and increase the quality and competitiveness of 30 Strategic Tourist Routes 30 strategic tourist routes in Brazil. The initial investment of the program, which covers destinations in the five Brazilian regions, is R$ 200 million.

The first phase of the program covers 158 municipalities in the five regions of the country. The goal is to bring competitiveness to the tourist routes considered strategic. The municipalities will be part of a package of actions involving investments, entrepreneurial incentives, access to credit, marketing, and professional qualification.

Routes Routes

The routes will be organized in four lines of action:

1) strengthening of governance;

2) improvement of the services and tourist attractions

3) attraction of investments and support to the access to credit lines and financing sources;

4) tourism marketing and commercialization support, and the increase in competitiveness may happen through partnerships between the public and private sectors.

The president of Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute) Gilson Machado Neto evaluates that the program can accelerate the development of the tourist activity throughout the national territory and make it possible for more foreign tourists to come to the country. "Investe Turismo can change the level of Brazilian tourist destinations and help position a strategic and integrated image of Brazil as a tourist destination in the international market. Embratur is attentive to the international indicators to meet this agenda", he stated.

For him, the launch of the Program is one more demonstration from the Government that the tourist activity is treated as a priority and is in the center of the country's economic agenda. "The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, believes in the growth of tourism that will have a decisive contribution in the economic recovery. Tourism in the vein, as a state policy", he emphasized.

North and Midwest regions

The North and Center-West regions participate with 18 municipalities each and seven and four strategic routes respectively. In the Center-West, Brasília and Chapada dos Veadeiros (DF and GO), Goiânia, Pirenópolis and Goiás (GO), Pantanal Norte and Chapada dos Guimarães (MT), Rota Pantanal Sul and Bonito (MS). While in the North Region, the routes are: Manaus and Polo Amazônico (AM), Belém, Ilha do Marajó, Santarém and Alter do Chão (PA), Palmas and Jalapão (TO), Boa Vista and Monte Roraima (RR) and Macapá (AP).

Northeast Region

The Northeast region is the region with the largest number of cities included in the first phase of the Investe Turismo Program, with 56 cities and a total of 10 routes. Among them, Maceió and Costa dos Corais (AL), Aracaju and the São Francisco Canyons (SE), Teresina and Serra da Capivara (PI), and Fernando de Noronha (PE).

Southeast Region

The Southeast Region presents five routes that involve 30 municipalities that encompass the Historical Cities of Minas Gerais, Imperial Rio de Janeiro, and the Northern Coast of São Paulo.

Southern Region

In the South of the country, 35 municipalities will have four routes: Porto Alegre and Serra Gaúcha (RS), Porto Alegre and Missions (RS), Iguaçu Corridor (PR), and Serra-Mar Catarinense (SC).
