The Amazonian city of Manaus has a lot to offer

Tribute to women of the Amazon theater and workshop with actor from Ceará are highlights of event promoted by new generation of artists.

From the sharing of their research, students from the Amazonas State University (UEA) propose a reunion of academia with society, in particular, a reunion with the artists who for decades fought for the creation of a course focused on the language of theater. It is the "Theater Weekpromoted by the Theater Academic Center, with production by Felipe Maya Jatobá e Vitor Figueiredo. There will be three days of free programming, from August 26th to 28th, at Escola Superior de Artes e Turismo (ESAT), Av. Leonardo Malcher - 1728, Praça 14 de Janeiro, always at 4pm.

"The third edition has themes focused on artistic training and historical recognition to all who build the manauara scene in the Brazilian theater scene. The activities promoted by the event bring artistic training and empowerment as part of the artistic resistance movement in the current moment", points Jatobá.

Program

On Monday (26th) there will be a round table discussion "Academy, Art and Politicsmediated by the director and cultural producer Felipe Maya Jatobá, who will discuss how the study of arts is or is not linked to the political manifestation of the collective and its interference in the social environment.

On Tuesday (27), women will take up all the talking points in the conversation circle "Women of Theater, which aims to provide the recognition of great names and references of theater and its femininity in Amazonas, with mediation of the actress and theater director Viviane Palandi. "It is of utmost importance to register this moment of open dialogue between all women of the theater and all their generations, who together contribute to be a living body on the scene," says Viviane. The round will feature tributes to women of the Amazonian theater, as Ednelza Sahdo, Ana Cláudia Motta, Koia Refskalefsky, Dione Maciel, Ana Oliveira, among others.

Closing the program, on Wednesday 28th, the actor, director and playwright Lucas Sancho's workshop with his research entitled "The Actor Maestro".. Born in the city of Fortaleza (CE), Lucas founded in São Paulo the core O Ator Maestro, a research group and staging of theatrical solos, having the actor as the scene's conductor. The poetics of the research is born from a system where the actor is the creator of all the elements that compose the show, in a self-taught and authorial way.

"The research is born from several encounters provided by the theater. Today, I continue to seek possible exchanges with other artists, teachers, and collectives that take me out of my comfort zone. The actor maestro is an open, constant, mutant, and living research", says Sancho, who, in his first visit to Manaus, presents the first show based on this research, "September Dayson August 29, at 7 pm at Casarão de Ideias, with free admission.

The Event

The Theater Week, besides contributing to the academic formation, also works on the integration of several sectors of the Praça 14 de Janeiro community. Vitor Figueiredo is majoring in Tourism and brings from his experience in organizing cultural events, the potential meetings provided by activities of this nature. Performative interventions and choreographic excerpts will also be presented throughout the event, in a way that makes it belong to the place and to the community surrounding the school.
