Shopping receives exhibition in honor of the Naval Battle of Riachuelo

In addition to the exhibition, those who visit the shopping center on Sunday at 7pm will be able to watch a performance by the Marine Corps Music Band.

This weekend, Shopping Ponta Negra will host an exhibition of the Brazilian Navy in honor of the 154th anniversary of the Naval Battle of Riachuelo. Admission is free and the event takes place on the third floor (L3), during the shopping center's opening hours: Saturday (8), from 10am to 10pm, and Sunday (9), from 12pm to 10pm.

The exhibition brings equipment used in Marine missions, nautical signaling service and naval communications materials, uniforms and decorations and operational means, besides the actions developed in the riverside communities and information about how to join the Navy.

Besides the exhibition, those who visit the Ponta Negra Shopping Mall on Sunday, at 7pm, will be able to watch the presentation of the Marine Corps Music Band. The show will take place in the food court, located on L3.

The Naval Battle of Riachuelo took place on June 11, 1865, on the banks of the Riachuelo, a tributary of the Paraná River in Argentina. The battle was triggered by Paraguay's interest in controlling the rivers in the Prata basin, a strategic route for transporting people and goods to the Atlantic, and was considered decisive in the victory of the Triple Alliance (Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina), in the largest armed conflict ever to take place in South America.
