The show is meant to be poetic, reflective and timeless, addressing the phenomenon of "de-awakening" of an indigenous nation.

With the intention of making the public reflect about the future of indigenous people and the threats to their culture, the Corpo de Dança do Amazonas (CDA) presents the show "Mata" (Wood)at the Amazonas Theateron Thursday (March 14), at 8pm. Admission is free and access is free.
The show, which premiered in November last year, has 23 dancers, directed by Getúlio Lima and choreographed by Clébio Oliveira. With 50 minutes duration, "Mata" suggests moments of tension and conflicts, and has the proposal to be poetic, reflective and timeless, approaching the phenomenon of "detachment" of an indigenous nation.
According to Getúlio Lima, the performance demands a lot - technically and artistically - from the members. "Opening the 2019 season with 'Mata' will be excellent for the company, as this is a very thought-provoking work for the dancers. We are looking forward to this re-staging," he said.
