In September, the agenda of the Amazonas Theater will include concerts of the Guaraná Series and shows by Adriana Calcanhotto e Rubel. The program also includes Choir Meetings, film screenings, and dance and theater performances. Check it out:
Day 04 (Wednesday) - 20h
Vinícius Piedade presents the show "Cárcere", which narrates a week in the life of a pianist in prison (deprived of his freedom and his piano) who will be held hostage in an imminent rebellion. He lives in a countdown rhythm and expresses his expectations, impressions, memories, reflections, and feelings in a diary. The play is rated for 14 years. Day 05 (Thursday) - 20h
Adriana Calcanhotto will perform the show "Margem", which brings together songs from the singer's so-called marine trilogy: the albums "Maritmo" (1998), "Maré" (2008) and "Margem (2019)". The repertoire includes hits like "Vambora", "Mais feliz" and "Maresia", as well as the brand new "Os ilhéus", "Príncipe das marés" and "Tua". The show is rated for 12 years. Friday the 6th (20h)
Pajé Cia. de Dança will present the jazz show "Mithus", which takes a journey through the realm of mythological fantasies to free people from the petty concerns of everyday life. "Mithus" lasts 50 minutes and is free. Admission is free.
Saturday 7th (Saturday) - 20h
The Amazonas Philharmonic, conducted by Luiz Fernando Malheiro, will perform the "Independence Concert". The program will include the Brazilian National Anthem (Francisco Manuel da Silva), the Amazonas State Anthem (Claudio Santoro), the Brazilian Independence Anthem (Dom Pedro I), and the Symphony from the opera "Il Guarany" (Antonio Carlos Gomes), among other pieces. Free rating. The entrance fee will be a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles".
Day 08 (Sunday) - 11am and 7pm
The Amazonas Guitar Orchestra will make two presentations at the Theater: at 11am, the "Didactic Concert" in which it presents the history of the guitar in a relaxed way, with space for public interactivity; and at 7pm, the show "Guitars in chorus". Both are free and admission with the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles.
10th (Tuesday) - 20h
The Amazonas Chamber Orchestra (OCA) will present "English Heritage", with guest conductor Hilo Carriel and Bernardo Santos on piano. The concert will bring together works by Felix Mendelssohn, Matteo Belli, Peter Warlock, and Gustav Holst. The concert is free and admission is with the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles".
Wednesday 11th - 20h
On Wednesday (11/09), at 8pm, there will be a screening of the documentary "New Species", by Maurício Dias. The feature film records the adventure of a group of experienced scientists and researchers from the National Institute for Amazonian Research (Inpa) who spent 40 days in an isolated area of the Amazon, the Serra da Mocidade National Park in Roraima. There is a possibility that no human being has visited the Serra da Mocidade before the documentary team in 2016. Free admission and free indicative rating.
Day 12 (Thursday) - 8 pm
The Guaraná XVI Series begins with the concert "Sinfonia Doméstica", performed by the Amazonas Philharmonic conducted by Luiz Fernando Malheiro. Lasting 1h30, it will bring together works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Strauss. Classification is free and admission with the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles".
Day 13 (Friday) - 20h
The Vila da Barra Institute will present the II Vila da Barra Concert "Colors of Brazil", with classic and popular songs that marked an era in Brazil, with special participations by singers from the Amazonian musical scene and the Vila da Barra Children's Choir. Free entrance and free rating.
Saturday 14th (Saturday) - 20h
The Amazonian Raylla Araújo, finalist of the fourth season of "The Voice Kids", will be the attraction of the evening with "Raylla Araújo, The Show". The show will bring together songs from Charlie Brown Jr, Marisa Monte, Legião Urbana in new versions. Free rating. The 16th (Monday) - 8 pm
On Ensemble - Taiko Group will perform free of charge. Formed in 2002, On Ensemble is one of the most respected taiko (Japanese percussion) groups in the world. It is recognized for incorporating the impactful taiko rhythm with musical influences, ranging from jazz and rock, to the harmonic chanting of central Asia.
Day 18 (Wednesday) - 8pm
The Cine Teatro Amazonas, a project that aims to spread the Amazon cinematography, promotes the screening of the short films "Like me, like you" and "A painter from the Amazon", by Roberto Kahane and Felipe Lindoso; "Plastic and Movement" (Roberto Kahane, Raimundo Feitosa, Aldísio Filgueiras and Felipe Lindoso); "Silvino Santos, O fim de um pioneiro", "Fragmentos da Terra Encantada" and "1922 - A Exposição da Independência", by Roberto Kahane and Domingos Demasi; "Vale quem tem" and "A Propósito de Futebol", by Roberto Kahane; and "Entrevista com Roberto, por Norma Araújo". Free admission.
Thursday 19th - 20h
The Amazonas Philharmonic will present "Shostakovich Santoro". The concert, which is part of the Guaraná XVI Series program, brings together works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Claudio Santoro. Marcelo de Jesus will conduct the concert. The concert is free and admission is with the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles".
Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd - various times
On Friday 20th there will be the opening of the 10th edition of the "Move" Dance Festival. At 3 pm there will be the "Mova-Sezinho", juvenile category of the festival; and at 8 pm it will be the turn of the Adult category. The event will end with performances of the Adult category on the 22nd (Sunday), at 7pm. All programming is free of charge and has free indicative rating.
Days 21 (Saturday) and 24 (Tuesday) - 8pm
The Amazonas Band will present "Swinging - Contemporary Jazz Program" on Saturday 21st at 8pm. In an hour-long concert, the group will perform songs like "Freedomland" (Russ Ferrante), "Za Ba Doo Bop" (Daniel Barry), "Ladybird" (Tadd Dameron), and "Across the heart" (Dave Hanson). Free admission.
The concert will be performed again on the 24th (Tuesday), also at 8 pm, but admission on this day will be the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles".
23rd (Monday) - 8 pm
Cia. de Dança Encontro das Águas will present "Ballet Giselle", a classic from the romantic period, about the peasant girl Giselle, who suffers a disillusionment in love, after finding out that her love has betrayed her. 25th (Wednesday) - 8 pm
The V Famcor – Festival Amazonas de Corais will come to the stage of Teatro Amazonas with the objective of spreading and popularizing Brazilian Choral Singing. It will take place on a non-competitive basis, with free classification and free access.
26th (Thursday) - 20h
Pianist Elina Sarkisian and the Amazonas Philharmonic, conducted by Luiz Fernando Malheiro, will give another concert of the Guaraná XVI Series, featuring works by Sergei Rachmaninov and Ferruccio Busoni. Admission is free and the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles" is accepted.
Day 27 (Friday) - 6 pm and 8 pm
Students of the Musical Theater course at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios Claudio Santoro will perform two sessions of the show "Julieu e Romieta", at 6pm and 8pm. Inspired by Shakespeare's classic text, the story shows a dispute between white cats and yellow cats. Romieta is a white cat, in love with Julieu, a yellow cat. Amidst different living conditions, a beautiful love story takes place. The rating is free and admission is upon the donation of a toy for the campaign "Donate a toy and win smiles.
28 (Saturday) - 20h
The singer and composer Rubel will perform the show "Casas e Pearl", which brings in its repertoire the new songs "Partilhar" (Sharing), "Mantra", and "Colégio" (College), besides the hits "O velho e o mar" (The old man and the sea) and "Quando bate aquela saudade" (When longing hits). Rubel (voice and guitar) goes on stage accompanied by Antônio Guerra (keyboard and piano), Gui Held (guitar), Pablo Arruda (bass), Pedro Fonte (drums), Bubu Silva (trumpet), Tiquinho (Sax), Marcelo Pereira (trombone), and João Luchese (programming). Closing the month's schedule, Interarte will present the musical "Carmen em Revista", which tells the story of one of the greatest icons of Brazilian culture, Carmen Miranda. With 12 multi-artists (actors, dancers and singers), the scenes follow the chronological order of the Little Notable's life. Historical facts from Brazil and the world are also portrayed.
