With an innovative proposal to disseminate strategic information on tourism activities and projects in Amazonas, the portal Observatur was launched on Monday, 4/11, in the University Council room of the University of the State University of Amazonas (Consuniv), located at the Rectory, Avenue Djalma Batista, Flores.
The initiative is from UEA, in partnership with the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa), Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), Amazonas State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), Federation of Commerce of Goods, Serviços e Turismo do Estado do Amazonas (Fecomércio-AM), Secretaria de Estado de Cultura (SEC) and Secretaria de Estado de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação (Sedecti), articulated by the UEA's Tourism Observatory Research Group, under the coordination of Professors Selma Batista and Márcia Raquel Guimarães.
According to the teachers, the goal of the portal is to be a platform of public and free access for residents, tourists, researchers, businessmen, and public managers from Amazonas who wanted to expose the most diverse actions of the local Tourism.
The platform will also serve for the systematic disclosure of indicators, bulletins, and reports of the sector's characteristic actions in Amazonas. Besides proposing the elaboration of manuals and research methodologies, carrying out capacities and training in research, promoting an information exchange network among institutions, and keeping the region's tourism data system updated for the management planning.
"Research data and studies that contribute to fomenting the productive chain of Tourism will be divulged, and will also contribute to the planning and management of the agents involved with the area. We will start with historical series that will allow for the continuity of periodical publications," said Professor Selma.
The coordinator also highlights that, in Brazil, there are 26 partner observatories of the Brazilian Network of Tourism Observatories. From this total, UEA becomes the fourth university in the country to implement the system, following the guidelines of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), structuring an observatory to treat local information and data.
Observatur-UEA's monitoring actions will be oriented to subsidize the creation and maintenance of management and development mechanisms in the sector, as well as to strengthen the network of researchers and institutions that produce scientific knowledge in Tourism with public policies and marketing practices.
The electronic address of Observatur is already available.
