The State Secretariat of Culture (SEC) will celebrate the Folklore Daycelebrated on August 22nd, with a week of special activities at the Usina Chaminé Cultural Cultural Center Usina Chaminé. Access will be free.
The program - that will take place from August 19th to 22nd, from 9am to 11am and from 2pm to 4:30pm - includes movie sessions with videos from the Turma do Folclore collection; games such as tongue twisters, Brazilian folklore pranks and the Saci race; creative workshops with characters such as the Curupira, and puppet theater about the legend of the Cobra Grande.
The Folkloric Ballet will present the show "Amazon Scenes" and will offer three workshops: Urban Dances, with Diogo Diniz; Ballroom Dance, with Alê Negreiros; and Percussion, with Tércio Macambira.
According to Edna Gomes, manager of the Chaminé Power Plant, the program will be offered to students from state schools and to the general public.
"We have scheduled visits from some schools to participate in our activities, but the community is also invited to celebrate with us this date that is so special for our culture," she says.
