Manaus' Olympic Village completes 29 years

The Olympic Village is over 228,000 square meters and holds one of the most modern athletics tracks in Brazil.

Inaugurated on March 25th, 1990, the Manaus Olympic Village completed 29 years of activity. Managed by the State Secretariat for Youth, Sports and leisure (Sejel), the Olympic Village has more than 228 thousand square meters and since its creation takes the Amazon name beyond the borders of Brazil, with the revelation of athletes who win titles in sports that began in the little schools of sports initiation, and with its work of social relevance.

The Olympic Village has one of the most modern athletics tracks in Brazil, composed of a thick mattress of gravel and compacted granite, in a total of 6 thousand cubic meters, coated with bases in layers, one of asphalt concrete, another of asphalt mass, and a final coating of Sportflex. The track has hosted major track and field events, such as three South American Adult Athletics Championships and one Youth Athletics Championships, one Brazil Track and Field Trophy, one America's Cup, one Ibero-American Championship, one Pan Athletic March, one South American Cross Country, one South American Marathon, one Half Marathon, and many other achievements. Currently, besides hosting major sporting events, the Village is home to an athletics initiation school.

Inside the Village, there are, also, the four sports courts, being a sand court, which honors personalities who made history in Amazonian sports, such as Waldemar Baia Soares, a futsal coach, Danilo José Sobral Peres Junior, of volleyball, and Armando Jimenez da Silva, of judo. Among the sports complexes are also those for boxing, gymnastics, and table tennis, which enjoys one of the most complete spaces in the northern region with official floors and tables, left by the Rio 2016 Olympic legacy.

In conclusion phase is the Olympic swimming pool, which is recognized as one of the best in the market and measures 25.00m x 50.00m, with two meters of depth and a 15-year guarantee. With highly modern technology, it is all made of stainless steel, pre-molded, with walls, floor covering, and overflow gutters separately or in combination.
