"Kawah Ijen," by Brazilian composer João Guilherme Ripper, was specially commissioned for the event.
Between April 28 and June 2, the Amazon will be the highlight in the world of classical music, with the 21st edition of the Amazon Opera Festival (FAO)which will feature a world premiere on the stage of the Teatro Amazonas Theater. It is the work "Kawah Ijenby the Brazilian composer João Guilherme Ripper, which was specially commissioned for the occasion. FAO 2018 is a realization of the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat of Culture (SEC), with sponsorship from Bradesco Prime - which celebrates 10 years of partnership with the festival - in addition to support from the Amazon Agency for Cultural Development (AADC) and Alliance Française.
The opera "Faustby Charles Gounod, which will open the festival, will pay tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous French composer. Already "Florencia en el Amazonasby Mexican Daniel Catán, will tell the story of Florencia, an Amazonian heroine who boards a ship in Colombia bound for Manaus, in a journey full of surprises.
With an entirely Amazonian production, "Dessana, Dessanaby Adelson Santos, will show the Amazonian identity, with new languages, totally contemporary; while "Acis and Galatea", a baroque opera by German George Handel, inspired by Greek myth, in a libretto by John Gay, will bring transcriptions for Amazonian myths.
Tickets are available at the box office of the Teatro Amazonas and on the website www.aloingressos.com.brwith prices ranging from R$ 5 to R$ 60.
The Secretary of Culture, Denilson Novo, says that during the opera season, parallel activities will also take place at the community centers, shopping malls, Installation Theater and in the municipalities of Manacapuru, Iranduba (in the district of Cacau Pirêra) and in Novo Airão.
"Our proposal is to bring the population closer to this event, which has international proportions and show that opera is also accessible to everyone", says Denilson Novo.
Partnerships
The holder of the Culture folder points out that this edition has important partnerships with countries like Indonesia, Portugal, France and Colombia.
"Indonesia brings a new element in the Festival's history, the Gamelão, a typical instrument from Java and Bali Islands, unique in Latin America and that will be played by percussionists from Portugal," comments the secretary. "Colombia will contribute with costumes and scenery for 'Florencia'.
We also highlight the partnership with Alliance Française, which guaranteed the preparatory classes for the Amazonas Choir, which, in one of the productions, will sing in French.
Cast
With artistic direction by Luiz Fernando Malheiro and assistant artistic direction by Marcelo de Jesus, the festival will have the participation of all the Artistic Bodies of the State Secretary of Culture (SEC), besides international artists and producers.
"For our montages, such as 'Faust,' we were able to gather a first-rate cast as international singers, starting with Isabelle Sabrié, a Frenchwoman who lives in Manaus; the bass-baritone Homero Perez, the Uruguayan baritone Marcelo Guzzo, the Italian tenor Alessandro Luciano, the Spanish mezzo-soprano Anna Gomà and two singers from Amazonas who are standing out in recent years, which are Thalita Azevedo, mezzo-soprano, and Joubert Júnior, baritone, "guarantees Malheiro. "I'm very happy with the cast and the work.
