Registrations are open for the Artistic Makeup Workshop – Beginner Modulethat will take place between March 13 and April 3, at the Padre Pedro Vignola Family Center (Rua Gandu, 119, Cidade Nova). The course is free, eight hours long, and has capacity for up to 20 students per class.
According to Tiago Oliveira, coordinator of the Theater Center of the Claudio Santoro High School of Arts and Crafts, the classes, taught by Romulo Hussenwill take place every Friday, from 9am to 11am and from 2pm to 4pm. He adds that those interested must be at least 13 years old and can enroll until March 11, at the place where the course will be held, with a copy of their identity card and proof of residence. The necessary material will be the students' responsibility.
"The course comes to give more visibility to the craft side of art, through techniques and composition of methods and materials used to harmonize strokes, lights, and shadows in the application of artistic makeup," says the coordinator. "The workshops are itinerant, in the high school units in Manaus. They start at Pedro Vignola, then go to the Magdalena Arce Daou, the Senior Center and end in July, in the Sambadrome. In the second semester, we will have the intermediate level in this same rotation."
Incentive
For the holder of the folder of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz, the courses can prepare professionals to meet a demand that grows in the city, with the realization of major events such as Carnival, the Amazon Opera Festival, and Christmas.
"From the workshops, the participants can enter the expanding job market and expand their opportunities, since they will have certificates from the Claudio Santoro High School of Arts and Crafts," says the secretary.
Beginners
Instructor Romulo Hussen says that the workshop is aimed at those who have no experience, but have the potential to work in a creative market. He explains that, in the first class, students will have a theoretical base and the necessary material to use during the course.
"Makeup has an infinite range of possibilities, and the students will learn, in one month, from the history of how it came about, what it was used for, to how to use the colors," comments the instructor. "From there, students can earn money, working for mall events, commemorative dates, children's parties, plays, composing characters, costumes, and body aesthetics. Everyone can take this course".
Romulo Hussen is an actor, director and, since 2012, has been working as an instructor of children's, youth and adult theater at the Padre Pedro Vignola Center for Socializing.
