Fixed telephony, mobile telephony and pay TV maintain downward trend.
Amazonas reached the mark of 301,925 active fixed broadband contracts in May 2018. The data are from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) and reveal a growth of 11.9% in comparison with May 2017, when the number of contracts was 269,678.
Throughout Brazil, there are more than 30 million fixed broadband contracts, an increase of 2,520,524 contracts compared to May 2017. In the comparison between April and May this year, 25,586 new fixed broadband contracts were generated. This service is the only one that continues to expand in the country. Fixed telephony, mobile telephony and pay TV maintain a downward trend.
With 10,276,521 contracts, São Paulo was the state with the highest number of fixed broadband contracts in May. In second place is Rio de Janeiro, with 3,260,705 contracts and in third place is Minas Gerais, with 3,077,602 contracts.
The biggest percentage growth in the month of May was registered in Maranhão (25%). In the Northeastern Region the increase was 57,116 broadband contracts in May this year, in comparison with last year. Roraima was the only state that registered a percentage reduction of 0.95%, with a drop of 355 contracts in May this year, in comparison with last year.
