The Cachoeirinha neighborhood received its name due to the small waterfalls that occurred when they collided with large rocks. In the beginning, the neighborhood was surrounded by the streams of Educandos, Mestre Chico, Quarenta and Cachoerinha, known for its great bathing options. In addition to being a leisure option for the population of the time, the streams served as a means of support for the washerwomen and their families, women who are often remembered among the older residents.
With the growth, the neighborhood has developed and today has wide streets that facilitate traffic, hospitals, clinics, schools, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, among others, which motivates old and new residents to continue living there.

Located on the Sete de Setembro Avenue, this iron bridge was built over the Mestre Chico creek and serves as a connection between the Centro and Cachoeirinha neighborhoods.
Its construction started in 1893 and the responsible for the work was the English engineer Frank Hirst Hebblethwaite. The following year, the masonry pillars were ready to receive the metallic structure that composes it, whose pieces were manufactured by the English industry Dorman Long & Company Limited - a company that exists to this day.
It underwent renovations in 1938, 1967 and 2011 when the Igarapé do Mestre Chico was revitalized.
