The show, which is based on research by Amazonian writer and teacher Mário Ypiranga Monteiro, about the Arara Indians, will have a moment of homage to the dancer and choreographer Flávio Soareswho passed away earlier this year.
In the adaptation of "A Dança do Sol", the ballet talks about the worship of the sun god through the eyes of the indigenous people. The show premiered in 2017 and had the choreography signed by the honoree and by Conceição Souza, director of BFA.
"Nothing could be more fitting than this tribute to Flávio, who was part of the Balé Folclórico and contributed to this choreography. At the end, we will show a projection on a big screen with several moments of him creating, teaching, and performing. We have also invited the class from the school where he taught and we hope to have a beautiful moment at the end of the presentation," says Conceição.
2020 Agenda
Also according to the director of BFA, the group has news for this year and a full agenda of presentations in different institutions.
"We have a new show, 'Legends', scheduled to premiere in August, and, besides the presentations in cultural spaces with partnerships with other Artistic Bodies, we also have invitations from schools, hospitals, hotels, where we create small choreographies for the public. Last year we gave 69 performances, and this year we want to break the record," says Conceição.
